- The atlas glides which ever way the occiput goes
- When side bending, the atlas rotates the other way to keep the eyes on the horizon
- 50% of motion approximately comes from C1 and C2
- If rotation is lost, don’t forget to check the “lateral glide” of atlas on axis
- Most sagittal plane motions occurs at OA joint
- Patient’s will usually lack rotation one way and side bending the other way with AROM screening
