  • The atlas glides which ever way the occiput goes
  • When side bending, the atlas rotates the other way to keep the eyes on the horizon
  • 50% of motion approximately comes from C1 and C2
  •  If rotation is lost, don’t forget to check the “lateral glide” of atlas on axis
  • Most sagittal plane motions occurs at OA joint
  • Patient’s will usually lack rotation one way and side bending the other way with AROM screening
